Beginner's Luck

A week from last Thursday I went bowling for the first time ever. But believe me I didn't really want to go...Not that I didn't like the people that invited me. I was just pretty dang sure I was going to be absolutely horrible. After all, this is coming from a person who finds it challenging to catch a baseball thrown from five inches away...okay exaggerating but still. Anyways, I went, and it went a little better than I thought. The first game I bowled about a 69. Okay, horrible I know, but for me that was pretty fantastic. Then the second game I did even better. I tied for second place at 99. (No, none of us who went were fantastic bowlers that night since the second highest score was 99). I was pretty happy with myself though. I actually did something that required hand-eye coordination without embarrassing myself, and I actually enjoyed myself to some extent. I should have known my luck wouldn't hold..

The next week they called me up again (yes, they're pretty obssessed with bowling) so off I went again. This time I started out rather poorly, but I thought, "hey, I started out poorly last time, so my game'll pick up here in a minute." Well guess what. It didn't pick up... Every time I threw the ball it seemed to find a way to miss the pins. Once it snaked through three of them without hitting a single one. On top of all of this, it was 8:00 PM and I hadn't eaten anything since noon. Plus I was zonked. So by the time we got to the 10th and final round I was so tired, weak with hunger, and horrified at my abysmal performance that I was absolutely positive I would never be caught dead in a bowling alley again. I barely managed to squeak a 60 this time (and I'm surprised I got that high to tell you the truth). So the bottom line is if you're not too horrendous the first time you bowl, don't get your hopes up that you're turning into some great bowler. You just might start going downhill fast from there....So yeah at the moment I'm not sure if I'll be bowling with them again next week seeing as how annoyed I am with bowling at the moment. haha. We'll just have to wait and see....

How Embarrassing

So this morning I was grocery shopping, and as you might or might not know I don't like to mess around while I'm grocery shopping. Basically I don't waste any time, I move as fast as I can (unless I'm shopping for something enjoyable like clothes or something), and I stick to the list as much as possible. There is nothing more annoying to me than people who keep getting distracted from the list and loiter around looking at everything in sight....Anyways as I was walking (rather quickly I might add) out of the produce section I came upon a rather large wet spot on the floor. Walking as quickly as I was, I didn't really have much of a chance to process the fact that I was coming upon a rather large wet spot. Plus I'm not very clumsy, so I didn't really expect to injure myself or anything. Well, unfortunately for me, I walked headsmack into the wet spot, my feet slipped out from under me, and I landed flat the on the ground. I happened to be carrying a can of olive oil spray, which went spinning across the floor over near some fruits or something.

Well I must say that I sat there for a few seconds in great pain. Dang that hurt. Double dang. Well I jumped up as quick as I could, (since by this time I was seriously embarrassed and I didn't want anyone to notice me sitting in the middle of the floor) and slowly started to exit the produce area, wincing in pain. I at first thought I had gotten away with the accident, but as I was leaving a lady from the bakery right next to where I had fallen came hurrying up saying, "Oh my are you okay?" I assured her that I was fine. She, however, repeated the question asking, "Are you sure?" I assured her again, and trying not to wince I quickly left the area. Now the whole company is probably in a horrible state of terror that I'm going to file a lawsuit against them or something. (Very tempting though, but nope. Too much trouble. haha). Well anyways after a while the soreness went away, and I was extremely thankful that I hadn't sprained an ankle or something. That would be seriously embarrassing when someone asked me how I sprained my ankle. So anyways, the moral to that story is....be very careful how fast you walk in grocery stores and never assume that you'll never fall because you aren't clumsy....hahaha

Well the rest of the day has been pretty good. I went to our new bookstore in town this afternoon and got myself a new kind of horror book. Well not exactly horror, but definitely creepy and out of the ordinary. So I'm looking forward to reading it...It'll be a nice refreshing break from the likes of Moby Dick. ha.

This Week....

A few things that have been going on...

*On the positive side, my cousin did real well through the surgery, and from what I've been hearing she seems to be recovering at a good pace. Still not sure how much it helped or not (I haven't really heard much about that) but I'm praying that it did some good. =] Thanks for your prayers.

*On the really negative side, it is never a good thing to hear an ambulance go through your neighborhood at 7:00 in the morning. We were extremely shocked and saddened to later find out that morning that one of our neighbors (who was only 40) had a sudden, fatal heart attack. His son is really close to my brothers, so it's been a really really sad thing. It's been pretty hard on our family as well, just because it reminds of us our dad dying of course....It's just really awful, and I would appreciate your prayers for this family....

*So far I am still jobless. Not that I have been trying extremely hard to get a job, however. The more I think about it the more unappealing the whole thing sounds. haha. But I did get that application turned in at the grocery store (finally). Turns out the manager wasn't there, again, so I just laid it up on his desk. If he can't find it then he shouldn't be running the store.....haha. And I mailed off my application to that restaurant, so hopefully one of them will start hiring soon...They'd better.....haha

Well that's it for now. Oh and one more thing. Thank goodness it's almost the weekend....

You Know What's Annoying....

*....writing endless papers on Moby Dick. Seriously this one I started today has to be the 3rd one I've done. (We finally started school back today btw). Not only do I really not enjoy writing papers, but Moby Dick has to be one of the most boring books I have ever read. Now I am willing to give most books that I read a good chance, but I'm sorry. Nothing much appeals to me concerning the subject of whaling. Reading about it is just not the way I would choose to spend my way, and writing about it is even worse....*sigh* oh well. Maybe I'll finally finish it. Someday....

*.....people at grocery stores who don't show up at the customer service desk to take your application. (haha). Seriously, last week I went to two places to apply for a job; a restaurant, and a grocery store. They both gave me the old, "We're not hiring right now but we're always accepting applications" monologue. Well I filled out the forms and this afternoon I went down to the grocery store to turn mine in. There was no problem. There was no one at the desk that takes applications and deals with customer complaints and stuff. There was also no sign of any of the managers. Now by this time I was seriously annoyed. I drove all the way down here just to stand in the front of the store and look like an idiot. Finally, after a few minutes of feeling extremely conscpicuous and worrying about being mistaken for some kid up to no good, I decided just to get out of there. Guess tomorrow after school I'll go back and demand to see a manager. Can you imagine me doing that?.....ha

Well I have a lot more things that annoy me but that's all I can think of for now....haha. I would appreciate prayer for my cousin though. She had surgery this past week, and I would really appreciate prayers for her recovery. If you didn't know, she has a condition which causes large tumors to grow on her face and stuff. So the surgery was supposed to help lift her face up a little since the tumors were making it sag. It's too early to tell if it's worked yet or not, but we're praying that it will. Thanks so much. =]

Crazy Trip

Well it's another year, and honestly I'm surprised I survived to see it....haha just kidding, though traffic in the city my grandparents live in could easily pose life threatening. Seriously, if I had to drive in that mess every day I think I'd either go insane or walk (which could be just as dangerous with those maniac drivers on the road....) Anyways, most of the trip was great, and seeing family was a lot of fun (though we did play a heck of a lot of games). You see, when you get all of our family together you can guarantee that all we will do is eat, play games, and force the musical children of the family to perform. My poor grandma about wore herself out getting the meals together. From the way she acted it appeared that the President plus his cabinet were coming to dinner....As to the performing thing, while I was packing up I conviently forgot to pack my piano music, meaning I didn't have to play. (I'm a genius. I know....haha). But my grandma wasn't having that. I ended up having to sing a duet with my cousin, as neither one of us wanted to sing a solo. But I'd much rather sing than play in public (and yes I'm considering family public here) anyday. If you've read my past blogs about piano recitals and piano festivals, you'll know what I mean.....

Well hope everyone has a good new year, and a good week. I am just happy cause I don't have to start school back till the 12th. Mwhahahaha =]. So I don't really know what I'll be doing this week, except I might attempt looking for a job since I happen to be broke (I have about 10 bucks to my name at the moment). That should be a nerve wracking endeavor. Sometimes I feel like my whole life is a nerve wracking endeavor.....haha
